Playlure ("Playlure: Presell Games") is a Shopify app operated by Blackout Media, a company established in Brazil. It puts mini-games on pages of a merchant's online store, with rewards that are Shopify discounts. This page says what the app and this website collect, why, for how long, and where it is processed.
Playlure does not read or store anything about a store's customers or orders, and it has no permission to. It asks Shopify for access to online store pages and discounts, and for read access to themes.
What the app keeps for each store
- The store's myshopify.com address, and the access token Shopify issues for it, which lets the app create the game pages and discount codes the merchant asks for.
- Each game the merchant makes: its name, template, look (colours, font, and the links to a logo or prize images the merchant enters, which usually point to the store's own Shopify Files), copy, settings, and the Shopify id and address of its page.
- Each game's prize table: the reward's label, its odds, where the claim leads, and the Shopify id and code of the discount behind it, with how many times Shopify reports the code has been used.
- The links the merchant builds: a label and the UTM values.
- Daily counts per game and per reward: page views, plays, wins and claims. They are totals only. No visitor identifier, cookie, IP address or device detail is stored with them.
- Whether the store's main theme has the game template and block, as last checked.
The app does not store the names, email addresses or passwords of the people who use it. Signing in is handled by Shopify.
What a game page does in a shopper's browser
- It sends anonymous count messages to play.merchantsuite.io when the page is viewed, a game starts, a reward is shown and a reward is claimed. Each message holds the store's address, the game's id, the event and, for a reward, the reward's id. Nothing else about the shopper is sent or kept.
- It keeps two values in the browser's local storage: the id of the reward the shopper got on that game, so a returning shopper sees the same reward, and whether they turned the sound off. Neither leaves the browser.
- It publishes three custom customer events (
presell:game_started,presell:game_won,presell:prize_claimed) inside Shopify's own customer events system, holding the game, template, page path, reward and code. They reach only the pixels the merchant has installed, under the merchant's own privacy settings and consent banner. Playlure does not receive them. - The claim button opens Shopify's own discount link (/discount/CODE) on the store, which applies the code to the shopper's cart.
How it is used
To run the games and show the merchant how each game and reward performs. Nothing is sold, shared for advertising or used to train models.
Where it is processed
- Cloudflare runs the app and this website (Workers). Its logs record requests to the app, including the store's address and the requesting IP address, for a short time.
- Neon hosts the database, on Amazon Web Services in the United States (Ohio, us-east-2).
- Shopify, whose admin the app runs inside and which hosts the game pages and discounts.
How long it is kept
For as long as the app is installed. When a store uninstalls Playlure, its access token is deleted at once. Shopify then asks the app to erase the store's data 48 hours after the uninstall, and the app deletes everything it holds for that store: games, prize tables, links, counts and settings. A store that reinstalls within those 48 hours finds its games as it left them. The pages and discount codes the app created belong to the store and stay in Shopify until the merchant deletes them.
This website
This website sets no cookies and runs no analytics or advertising scripts. Cloudflare, which serves it, processes the IP address of each request.
